"A Simple Hymn"
songwriter and storyteller from New England. A SIMPLE HYMN Song Altar for the Lord of the everlasting Now A simple hymn for You, Lord of all I do. May Your light burn so bright- In spite of me, shine through. Wash each moment's face With the water of Your grace. Walk my will up Your hill. Renew, refill, replace. When I fall, Lord of all, Help me to call Your name. Banish fear, catch each tear, Shave and shear my shame. And as the time proceeds Help me to find my knees. Push and pull, merciful. Till my conceit concedes. A simple hymn for you, Lord of all I do. May Your light burn so bright- In spite of me, shine through. -Michael Kelly Blanchard, from his latest album IMAGIO DEO/IMAGE OF GOD, c 1997, Goliard Music Group, used by permission. That reminds me of Jesus' parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector in Luke 18. Pride is so insidious. We pray best when we pray from humility.] Have a great week, Chip Stam |
