Worship in the Day-to-Day
WORSHIP IN THE DAY-TO-DAY
Given all that we have seen from the Scriptures, there can be no doubt that worship is conducted in the day-to-day events of life. The deeds of love done in the service of the Lord are the authentic, bodily manifestations of our devotion to God the Father. It goes without saying that such deeds can only be done by the grace of God, but there can be no doubt that this action of well-doing is what we have been created for. “We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them (Eph. 2:10). Repeatedly we see that deeds of love are the outcome of believing faith, so “good works” that are pleasing to God are the goal of proclamation and conversion (e.g. Acts 9:36; 2 Cor. 9:8; Col. 1:10; 2 Thes. 2:7; 1 Tim. 6:18; 2 Tim. 3:17; Titus 2:14). These are not only our expression of worship TO God, but they lead to the worship OF God, as others see his love in action and glorify him on account of it (Matt. 5:21).
