"The Light of Glory Breaks"
I hope and pray that this Christmas season finds you in a place where you can clearly behold the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Today’s WORSHIP QUOTE is a wonderful Christmas text (with angels, shepherds, and sages) from a newly published collection of hymns by Timothy Dudley-Smith. Read this one out loud.
THE LIGHT OF GLORY BREAKS
The light of glory breaks,
angelic spendours shine;
our God our nature takes,
a human child divine:
to cattle-shed as earthly home
the long-awaited Christ has come.
He lies in slumber deep,
his manger-bed of hay,
while shepherds leave their sheep,
his only courtiers, they:
on trembling feet in haste they trod
to find the new-born Lamb of God.
The treasures Wisdom gave
those infant eyes behold,
the myrrh to mark his grave,
the frankincense and gold:
prophetic gifts for God Most High,
our King and Priest who comes to die.
Come, join the angel throngs,
the shepherds and the kings,
to lift on high the songs
renewed creation sings:
for peace with God, for hope restored,
all glory be to Christ the Lord!
